School's back in session, the leaves are starting to turn, and everyone's getting into the routines and flow of late Summer and Autumn.
We've got some wonderful events and workshops happening at MRKTBOX locations over the next few months, so mark your calendars and join us!
Every Thursday, Dundurn Market hosts the BYOBook club! Beginning at 2pm, simply swing by Dundurn, with the book you're currently reading in tow! We'll hook you up with a membership card, and you can join other club members to briefly chat about the book you're on, and learn about what others are reading. We invite you to grab a drink, find a spot and then simply read! It's a fun, relaxed way to meet some neighbours, hear about new books and take some time for yourself. Your membership card gets you deals and discounts, and a chance to win some great MRKTBOX prizes!
Open to all ages, this would be a great after-school activity to get the kiddoes reading and excited about books.
Coming up this Sunday afternoon September 15th, our pal Joyce from Joyce of Cooking will be running adult cooking classes at Dundurn Market. With two timeslots to choose from, Joyce will lead participants through the steps and tips and tricks of making your very own kimchi and cucumber kimchi! This hands-on class is a great way to learn how traditional foods can support gut health . All supplies are provided and no experience is necessary. Later in the month, Ottawa Market hosts a workshop with Nutritionist and Intuitive Eating counsellor Violeta Puente-Duran on Thursday September 26th from 6pm-7:30. Join Violeta in a discussion about guilt-free evening snacking and intuitive eating. Tickets and $12 and include a snack! Sign up here.
Back at Dundurn Market that night as well, we've got a Thursday night special with Johan and friends playing tunes from 7pm-10pm. This event is always free to attend and we're serving up $5 Fairweather pints! It's always a rockin' good time.
Saturday September 28th is the annual Craft Crawl on Ottawa Street! Stroll down the street from 10am-4pm and enjoy all sorts of arts and crafts, treats and tunes. Both Sides Studio will be popping up at Ottawa Market from 11am - 3pm with their handmade personal care products and botanical remedies. Is it too early to start buying stocking stuffers? We think not! This is the perfect time to get a jump start. Be sure to pick up a canned good to donate at the street fest, in support of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
